LG Announce the L35, a True Budget Android Phone
While nothing much to write home about, the L Series has proven popular for LG in Europe and now, they’re adding their smallest device yet to the lineup. The 3.2-inch L35 is a great first smartphone for younger users or older users alike and while it doesn’t have a huge spec list, the dual-core Snapdragon 200 should be okay for everyday use. WCDMA Version of Xiaomi’s RedMi Note Now Available For Europeans
As we covered earlier in the week, the WCDMA version of the RedMi Note is now available from international sellers. That means that it can now be imported and used on 3G networks throughout the globe. However, as we discovered, it’s only going to be of much use to those in Europe, as the device only supports 900 and 2100 mHz, which makes things very limited for those in the US. Still, as most of Europe uses 900 mHz for 3G, this could be something worth looking into.
Panasonic P81 Launches in India
Panasonic may have faded away from the Japanese smartphone market, but they’re still shipping devices elsewhere. This is made abundantly clear with the launch of the P81 in India. The 5.5-inch 720p device is powered by the MediaTek MT6592 and features Android 4.2 with some interesting customization on top from Panasonic. The device features a 13-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter and a 2,500 mAh battery. The P81 is reasonably priced at RS 18,990 and features 6 months of Evernote premium included in the price.
EE Launch the Eagle, a Rebranded Huawei MediaPad M1
As many have pointed out, it seems that UK network EE has a thing for birds as a lot of their own-name devices are named after birds – such as the Kestrel. Here comes the Eagle, a Huawei MediaPad M1 that will run on EE’s 4G network and will cost just £199 when it launched on May 28th. That’s the bird’s Pay as You Go price though, so we wouldn’t expect much data from that, especially from EE, but it is available on a range of pay monthly tariffs as well, which is nice we suppose. The device is an 8-inch 1280 x 800 tablet with a quad-core CPU and Android 4.2.2, which we doubt will ever get updated, but still it’s not a bad deal if you’re looking for something to do email or entertain the little ones without needing WiFi, right?
Samsung’s Galaxy K Zoom Up for Pre-Order in the UK
The follow-up to last year’s Galaxy S4 Zoom, the Galaxy K is a lot thinner, features an upgraded camera and follow the design of the Galaxy S5. It’s now available to pre-order Samsung’s own store in the UK for £400 outright. That’s a lot of money for a usual smartphone, but it’s not too pricey considering this is basically a smartphone and a digital camera all in one. Vodafone’s 8-inch Smart Tab is Just £125
EE released their Eagle tablet this week as well, but Vodafone’s Smart Tab 4 is a little cheaper, especially if you take it on a contract. It’s an 8-inch tablet with a 1280 x 800 display, a MediaTek quad-core CPU and will cost just £125 on Pay as You Go, with 2GB of data. If you want it for less though, you can pay £29 for it and then £20 a month for 2GB of data. A basic tablet, the Smart Tab 4 is a pretty decent deal if you’re looking for something similar.
Micromax Unite 2 A106 with KitKat Launches in India
This latest device from MicroMax is not only good-looking, but it’s designed to handle all the languages of a diverse country like India. It’s not the best specced machine with a 4.6-inch 800 x 480 display and a MediaTek CPU, but it’s running Android 4.4 KitKat and costs just RS 6,999 and will be available in Grey, White, Red and Green colors from May 22nd. It supports 20 Indian languages as well as India and is designed for easy use, rather than headline-grabbing specs.
