LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live Now Available for Pre-Order

Earlier today, Google told us that the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live would be available for pre-order later today. It’s finally available for pre-order today and it should be heading to your home on July 3rd and 8th, respectively. The LG G Watch is going to set you back $229 and the Samsung Gear Live will be about $199, that’s before taxes and shipping though. The LG G Watch is available in white gold and black titan, and will be available on July 3rd. While the Samsung Gear Live is available in black (although we’ve seen a purple one already) and will be available July 8th, for those that don’t want to pre-order it. The LG G Watch features a 1.65-inch IPS display while the Samsung Gear Live features a 1.63-inch AMOLED display. Otherwise, the specs are relatively the same and both are running on Android Wear, which needs Android 4.3 or higher to communicate with your device. This includes 512MB of RAM as well as 4GB of storage, and Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

Both smartwatches are pretty nice looking, but then next to the Moto 360, they don’t look too good. The Moto 360 will be available later this summer for those looking to pick one of those up. There’s no price for the Moto 360 just yet, but it won’t be cheaper than the LG G Watch, and if it is, I’d be happy that I’m wrong. Android Wear’s SDK launched today, and it ties in pretty heavily with Android L which we will be seeing this fall alongside Android TV, and Android Auto.

The LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live look great. How many of you are picking up either of these smartwatches? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
