LG-made Project Tango Tablet Hitting Retailers Next Year

While yesterday, we saw most of the news coming out of Google I/O, today is a bit of a slower day and we mostly just have some sessions. And Google’s ATAP team – the team they kept from Motorola when they sold Motorola to Lenovo – has already done some cool stuff. These are the same guys behind Project Ara. Project Tango has already done some pretty cool stuff with their 3D features, including being sent to space with some astronauts to do stuff. Regina Dugan from the Google ATAP team stated in a talk today at Google I/O that the retail version should be hitting sometime next year and that it will be made by LG. LG gets to make all the Google goodies huh?

So far, there’s no word on what specs we might seeing, or even a date. Never mind the pricing of the Project Tango tablet. There’s already an NVIDIA tablet for Project Tango which is definitely not cheap. It’s priced at $1024 and has some beefy specs as well. Including a Tegra K1 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 7-inch display. Although the display is pretty mediocre actually. I’m not sure who, besides developers, would want to buy a Project Tango tablet anyways, but it should be hitting retailers next year.

Pretty interesting to see that LG is building the Project Tango tablet. They’ve built lots of goodies for Google lately. Including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, LG G Watch, and now it looks like the Project Tango tablet. Maybe we also see a Nexus tablet from LG soon? Would be awesome to have both HTC and LG Nexus tablets come out this year. How many of you are interested in a Project Tango tablet? Let us know in the comments down below.
