It seems like this news comes just in time for those who are participating in the Moto X two week trial period of the device, at least for those who end up keeping it. Team Win Recovery project finally has an official build for Moto X users to replace the stock recovery with a custom one. Modders and ROM flashers alike are too familiar with the benefits and furthermore requirement more or less of a custom recovery on their devices, and up until now the other most popular custom recovery TWRP, hasn’t been available on Motorola’s famed Moto X. That left users with one really good option in ClockworkMod Recovery. If you prefer TWRP however now is your time to flash it to the device if you have the desire.
If you’re heading down this road to grab TWRP officially then we imagine that you’re already in the know about what’s required from you to make this sort of thing work. Yes, the first thing you’ll probably need to do is unlock your Moto X’s bootloader if you haven’t already done so. After that, you can download and install the flashable image file for the official TWRP recovery and flash away. More good news for TWRP fans is that this flashable image is compatible with all models of the Moto X, so no one is left out here.
One thing that is different from TWRP compared to ClockworkMod is that the interface for using it is already touch enabled, so everything should feel just as natural as using your device normally. ClockworkMod has a touch enabled version but it isn’t supported by all devices that the recovery is available for and it isn’t default, instead requiring users to manipulate the power and volume buttons to use features of the app, however if your device does support ClockworkMod Touch you can pick it up for a small price. Did you get your own very Moto X to try out for just a penny and if so, are you planning on keeping it? We suppose you won’t know just yet, at least not until you receive the device in the mail and get some to play with it. Those who are current Moto X owners, will you be flashing this to your device?
