We are all waiting for the Samsung Tab S tablets – the first tablets in years to use Samsung’s Super AMOLED 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch displays. Samsung UK has just announced that both sizes will be available in the UK on July 4, although you can pre-order them now through the Samsung online store or at a number of retailers. Prices are starting at £329 for the 8-4-inch Wi-Fi only model and £479 for the 10.5-inch Wi-Fi/4G model.
Think of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet series of a Samsung Galaxy S5 stretched out to be a tablet. We have the same Super AMOLED display, the same ‘dimpled’ backing, similar colors, extremely thin at just 6.6mm and a fingerprint scanner on the home button. Both devices have the WQXGA 2560 x 1600 resolution displays and depending what market you pick one up, you may have Samsung’s own Exynos 5 Octa chip or a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor. They are sporting 3GB of RAM with 16GB or 32GB of storage – however, they both have a microSD slot to add up to an additional 128GB of storage. In the connectivity department, you can purchase either a Wi-Fi only model or a 4G capable model. Both models have Bluetooth 4.0, an IR Blaster to control compatible devices and the also come with an 8MP main camera and a 2.1MP front-facing- camera for video chatting and selfies. A 4900mAh battery powers the 8.4-inch model and the 10.5-inch model derives its power from a 7900mAh battery.
These tablets are packed with features – let’s start with Multi-Window that will easily allow you to multitask with more than one window open at a time and on the LTE models you send and receive voice calls while you are multitasking.
With SideSync 3.0 you can view your smartphone home screen on your tablet and transfer data, copy & paste text easily, and even send and receive voice calls from the Tab S.
Adaptive Display automatically adjust color gamut, sharpness and contrast according to how you are using the Tab S – if you are watching a movie and then switch to reading an e-book, the screen will adjust itself for the sharpest reading experience. You have three Screen Modes – AMOLED Photo, AMOLED Cinema and Basic Mode.
Samsung KNOX to help keep both your personal and business data secure so you can work and play with confidence.
