Over the past few days, some reports surfaced that some people that bought the Chromebook Pixel were having their promo end early. When Google announced the Chromebook Pixel last year, one of the perks that came with the LTE version was 100MB of free data each month on LTE for two years. Another was the fact they got 1TB of Google Drive space for free for three years, which at the time more than paid for the Chromebook Pixel’s high price tag. According to TechCrunch, Verizon is working with those Chromebook Pixel users who may have had their promo end prematurely. Here’s the statement to TechCrunch.
“We do understand that a very small number of Chromebook Pixel customers may have had a promo end prematurely,” Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Debra Lewis informed TechCrunch this morning. “We apologize for this, and will work with these customers to address the situation.”
While 100MB of LTE data isn’t a whole lot, it’s still nice to have if you need to work on the road or whatever, and you can just open up your Chromebook Pixel and connect to Verizon’s LTE and voila you’re all set. It’s great to see that Verizon is working on this issue and working on a fix for those with the Chromebook Pixel. The Chromebook Pixel was a really nice Chromebook, but seriously overpriced, especially when we look at what other Chromebooks cost. This one was north of a grand, and had a 12.85-inch 2560×1600 resolution touchscreen, Intel Core i5 processor, and 4GB of RAM. So it was plenty powerful for Chrome OS, but for that price you expected a lot more, obviously.
