Viewranger Brings Active Navigation for Adventures to Android Wear

Going on a hike or trail ride can prove to be a deadly experience for your smartphone.  Falling out of your pocket or holster clip could bring any kind of doom to your favorite phone, so wouldn’t you rather just leave it in your backpack where it can be safely stored without this worry?  Of course you would, but what about navigating that trail and knowing where you are without having to constantly take the phone out of your backpack to check it all the time?  Thankfully Viewranger has your back here, and wants to take its app’s power to your wrist via Android Wear.

Using your phones GPS and the Viewranger app, your Android Wear can actively navigate to where you need to go, and give you all sorts of important information at a glance.  Going beyond mere telling of time, the Viewranger extension for your Android Wear brings not only active navigation via a super easy to see arrow pointing which direction to go, but also gives you important information like duration and distance of your adventure, elevation and current altitude changes.  This sort of information is key in knowing where to go and what to do when out hiking and adventuring, and it’s even more convenient now that it’s just on your wrist!

The concept of smartwatches is still in its infancy, but we’re seeing more and more useful tools like Viewranger’s pop up.  Best of all the app is free, so check it out at the Play Store link below and don’t forget to take it on your latest adventure!
