It seems like so long ago that the Amazon Fire Phone was announced, that’s exclusive to AT&T’s network. Well now it’s finally available for purchase for those on AT&T or looking to jump ship to AT&T. The Amazon Fire Phone launched today on AT&T for $199 on contract for the 32GB version and $299 on contract for the 64GB. Otherwise it’s $649 and $749 respectively, off contract. The Fire Phone definitely isn’t for everyone. After using it for a few days now, I can definitely say that if you use Google services at all, don’t buy this device.
This is Amazon’s first stab at a smartphone, so there’s bound to be some bumps in the road. But this time around there’s a ton of bumps in the road. There are some good things about the Fire Phone, and there are some pretty bad things. The camera is actually quite good, especially in low-light situations. Although it does have a 13MP camera on there. The screen is also pretty decent given that it’s a 4.7-inch 720p IPS panel. Although it is quite tall. I compared it to my LG G3, and it’s about the same height, which is kinda sad given the screen size difference between the two. I do really like the dedicated-camera button on the left side though. We’re still working on a full review and will probably have it available for your reading pleasure next weekend. So look forward to that.
The Fire Phone is definitely a unique phone. And something different for us to review here at Android Headlines. It’s still tough to decide on whether that’s a good thing or not, though. How many of you are on AT&T and looking to pick up the Amazon Fire Phone today? If you do, I’d like to know why you chose the Amazon Fire Phone. Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
