Sony announced its press event for this year’s IFA in Berlin which will be held in Berlin, though it will technically be a pre-IFA event considering IFA kicks off on September 5th. We’ve seen many leaks of Sony’s devices recently and now Sony released an official teaser for said event. In this 55-second video (check it out below) which they posted on their official Sony Xperia YouTube channel, they tease 3 new devices. Around 40-second mark you can see 3 shapes, which appear to be 2 smartphones and a tablet. Well, if leaks are to be believed, those devices are Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Those three devices were heavily leaked lately and we’re convinced those are the devices Sony will unveil on September 3rd.
Let’s see, Xperia Z3 will Sony’s new flagship device. If rumors are to be believed, it will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Triluminous display along with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor. 3GB of RAM will also be included as well as 16GB of internal storage which will be expandable via MicroSD card. On the back of the device you’ll be able to find a 20.7-megapixel camera with a 2-megapixel shooter being located on the front of the device. Xperia Z3 will allegedly be thinner than the Z2, which leaked images also suggest.
Xperia Z3 Compact will basically be the same as the Xperia Z3 but in a smaller body and with a different display (and probably its battery as well) because of it. This device is expected to feature a 4.6-inch 720 or 1080p display. Talking about size, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is expected to feature an 8-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Triluminous display with a battery rated somewhere between 4000 and 5000mAh. This tablet will allegedly sport an 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter. Other specifications will probably be the same as in the 2 aforementioned smartphones if the leaks are to be believed.
All 3 of these devices will have some sort of water and dust resistance, Xperia Z2 had IP58 certification, which could be passed along to these devices as well. Sony could of course decide to upgrade this a bit in the end. Either way, Sony’s press conference is near, September 3rd is the date, let’s see what Sony has to offer.
