We’ve seen many leaks of the Sony’s upcoming flagship thus far. Sony Xperia Z3 popped up on GFXBench where its specifications were revealed. We’ve also seen some CAD (Computer-Aided Design) images and regular images of the device as well. Previous specification leaks have pointed to an almost identical specifications we’ve seen in the Xperia Z2, this new leak somewhat confirms that.
Xperia Z3 was certified by TENAA in China and thus revealed its specifications. The device was listed as L55r and L55u models, the same device with different network bands. The first one supports TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE network while the second one supports WCDMA and TD-LTE network. The listing says the device will sport a 2.5GHz quad-core processor though it doesn’t say which one, earlier leaks have pointed to a Qualcomm MSM8974AC which is a Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. The listing goes on saying the front panel will be 5.2-inch full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS display. 3GB of RAM are also expected to be there as well as 16GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card) and Android 4.4 KitKat as the device’s operating system. TENAA listing also says we’ll be able to find a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back as well as a 2-megapixel shooter on the front. Bluetooth, FM Radio Wi-Fi and GPS are also listed of course.
If these specifications turn out to be legit, Xperia Z3 will be just an iterative update to Xperia Z2. The main differentiator will probably be the device’s slimmer design although it should look fairly similar to the Xperia Z2. This listing doesn’t say anything about the water proofing or anything of the sort, but we do expect Xperia Z3 to have some sort of water and dust resistance at the very least. They might even include the IP65/IP68 certification (instead of IP55/IP58) we’ve seen in the Xperia M2 Aqua recently. Either way, we’ll find out more details in the near future, considering this device is expected to launch at Sony’s IFA event on September 3rd, so stay tuned.
