It seems it is that time again. Every year, the time comes when all the big internet and phone companies start offering strange and complex ‘new’ packages to lure you over to their network. Most recently a lot of the new plans and packages being announced and offered seem to revolve around the concept of ‘sharing data’. In short the more users added to a single (payment) account the cheaper the contract becomes. This is all very well for those with big families or lots of house-mates but not so attractive to those who fly solo these days. With prices capping whether ten lines or two lines are in use does not do much for single account users.
A few months back AT&T did start increasing data allowances on GoPhone plans without increasing their cost which was designed for single users. Now today AT&T is also offering some other new packages. So here is the latest from AT&T. It seems if you use AT&T’s ‘GoPhone Wireless Home Phone & Internet’ service then there is two new packages available. Both the packages offer unlimited calling with the only difference being data allowances. For $60 a month users receive 5 GB data while for $80 per month the data allowance doubles to 10 GB.
If you are unfamiliar with the Go Phone Wireless Home Phone & Internet service then you should know the details. These plans require the purchase of a Wireless Home Phone & Internet device (aka a ‘Home Base’). This device can then be connected to your phone equipment and WiFi devices. One interesting feature of this service is that users can take their Home Base device with them to work, on vacation or to literally anywhere that has a power outlet…and of course an AT&T wireless network. In addition to its portability, this service is designed as a pay-as-you-go solution and as such users do not have to sign up for any contracts, go through credit checks or leave deposits. Is anyone out there using this service already? Is it any good? How do the new plans sound to you? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment.
