Asus has announced Fonepad 7 (2014 edition) Dual SIM tablet back at MWC this year. The company is now giving you an incentive in order to get you to purchase this device. If you decide to buy the Fonepad 7 (2014) tablet you’ll get a free stand which is worth Rs 1,599. The device is available for purchase since April in India and will cost you Rs 12,999 if you decide to get one. It is available in Stylist Gray and Charming White color options. “Our initiatives for festive season have been well received. In view of the great demand for our Fonepad 7 Dual Sim, we wanted to offer additional value to our existing and prospective customers. We are certain that our users will make the most of it.” said Peter Chang, Regional Head of South Asia and Country Manager for ASUS India – System Business Group.
This mid-range tablet features a 7-inch 1280 x 800 IPS display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card). The device is powered by Intel Atom Z2520 dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and it comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera while there’s also a 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter included on the front of the device. SGX544MP2 GPU is included for graphics processing. Fonepad 7 (2014) comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box with Asus’ OS on top of it. 3,910 mAh non-removable battery also comes with the tablet as well as the usual array of sensors. As far as connectivity goes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 are also included and this is a 3G HSPA+ device, so it has voice calling capabilities of course. SonicMaster audio technology is also a part of the package.
There are lots of Android tablet offerings out there in the market, though your options are limited looking from market to market of course. In this case we’re talking about Indian market and if you need calling capabilities on your tablet you don’t have that many options at this price point. This device isn’t exactly a top of the line device and it seems a bit dated at the moment, but if you really need something like this at least you can get a free stand along with the tablet.
