The new Motorola Moto X is coming tomorrow, October 1 exclusively to TELUS for $100 on contract and $600 outright – ouch, that is $101 more than Motorola announced it would cost in the U.S. – making a great bargain, still a decent buy if you need to purchase it outright. TELUS is fulfilling their prophecy from early September when they said they would be the new Moto X’s launch partner. Motorola Canada and TELUS have a close working relationship, especially when had great success when they marketed the Moto G…TELUS will also be the exclusive carrier to sell the Moto 360 as well later this year. TELUS will offer the new Moto X in black and bamboo and the Moto 360 in black leather. This is not to say that other carriers will not eventually add the Moto X and Moto 360 to their arsenal of devices later down the road.
The new Moto X is easily the best smartphone that Motorola has ever made. They took its predecessor and improved it in every way – they retained the basic look, which was a winner to begin with and simply made it bigger and stronger with an all-metal frame. The Moto X still retains the curved back that is so comfortable to hold in your hand and the new leather back options are luxurious, as are the beautiful wood backings.
The new Moto X has a beautiful 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display that sports 1920 x 1080 pixels of resolution with 423 pixels-per-inch (PPI). Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz – the same one in the Galaxy S5, LG G3 and the Xperia Z3. It has 2GB of RAM and either 16GB of internal storage if purchased in the stores or a 32GB option you can get online with no room for expansion – think cloud storage people. The camera jumped up to a respectable 13MP with auto focus and a Dual-LED Flash Ring that actually encompasses the camera lens. They threw in a 2MP front-facing camera (FFC) for video chatting and selfies. To power the entire device is a 2300mAh battery – not as large as we were hoping for, however, with the optional Motorola Turbo Charger, you can get up to eight additional hours of use with a 15 minute charge…not bad at all.
The new Moto X also sports four microphones for exceptional voice clarity and noise reduction as well as Motorola’s new Dynamic Tuning that adjusts the antenna signal based on where your hand is holding the device…all pretty cool stuff. Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know if you are leaning to picking up one of these great devices…as always, we would love to hear from you.
