Sony's Xperia Z3 Compact Launches in India; Priced at RS 44,990

Earlier this month, Sony announced the Xperia Z3 line of smartphones and tablets, with the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact taking center stage in the new lineup. Obviously, we were looking at a revamped Xperia Z2 here, but there are some interesting additions here, besides this is only the second “Compact” device that Sony has done of a smartphone. Why not “Mini” you ask? Well, the Xperia Z3 Compact features pretty much the exact same specs as its bigger brother, and now it’s officially launched in India, so let’s see what all the fuss is about.

For RS 44,990, Sony will begin selling the Xperia Z3 Compact soon, and while that’s a big price tag for a small phone, this isn’t your average small smartphone. With a Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5 Ghz with 3GB of RAM backing it up, we can already see that Sony didn’t skimp on the specs here. The same 20.7-megapixel camera with ‘G’ lens, which has been improved upon since the Xperia Z1 Compact, is here once again and so too, are a new pair of stereo front-facing speakers. Waterproof as always the Xperia Z3 Compact is a little softer with rounded edges all the way around the device’s sides and that dedicated camera key is still here as well. The only ral difference here is the display, which is a 4.6-inch 720p panel, rather than a 5.2-inch 1080p panel, but as recent tests have shown, that lower-resolution helps the Xperia Z3 Compact last for two days on a single charge.

Sure, the Xperia Z3 Compact is fairly pricey, but it’s well worth it, that is if you want the best of what Sony has to offer without having to get your hands around a larger display, of course. It’ll be available in India in white, black, red and green fairly shortly and we’re sure Sony and their suppliers will have some bundle offers to announce sooner rather than later.
