Asus Getting Zen Event Ready for October 28th, New ZenFone and Zenwatch Info to Come

Asus is planning a big event for just one week out from today, and will be talking all about its upcoming product launches for the ZenFone series and the new Android Wear powered Zenwatch.  On its website Asus posted a couple of teaser images that let us know exactly what it’s going to be covering, and it should be a pretty excellent event.  The teaser images show the bottom bezel of the new ZenFone, which has a metal look to it, and features the standard home, back and recents buttons that Asus uses in its phones.  What’s not clear here is whether or not they are capacitive like the rest of the ZenFone series is, or if they are software navigation bar buttons as are found on stock Android and in a number of other manufacturer skins like Sony and LG.

The Zenwatch teaser is a little more bizarre because we’ve already seen the official announcement of the Zenwatch in early September, and the face of the Zenwatch in the picture clearly says September as well.  Is this the same Zenwatch that Asus announced over a month and a half ago, or are they planning a new variant of the device?  Asus Zenwatch has also been said to be the first Android Wear watch with manufacturer customizations, hinting at a possible reveal for those at this event as well.  Either way we’re in for some great announcements from Asus here, and maybe we’ll actually get a release date for the Zenwatch too.

We recently reviewed Asus ZenFone 4 and the ZenFone 5 LTE and were generally pretty great phones, especially given their budget prices.  Asus has been doing well with the ZenFone series at the price and relative specs it’s been releasing them at, so there’s no reason to think that they’re going to be releasing a flagship $700 Nexus killer any time soon.  Mark your calendars for October 28th if you’re interested in any of these new products from Asus!
