This is a bit of a surprise, but AT&T is picking up the year-old Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch tablet and will start selling it tomorrow in stores and online. They will be offering the 32GB version tomorrow for $99 on contract. Or for those looking to jump onto AT&T Next, it’ll be $10/month and if you buy the Amazon Fire Phone it’ll be $49.99. So not a super expensive tablet here, but that’s the reason why Amazon has sold so many Kindle Fire’s already. The Kindle Fire HDX still has some pretty decent specs and stacks up to the competition well. It features a Snapdragon 800 processor and a 1080p display. It also has Fire OS 3.x and MayDay, which is the best feature ever. But the only downside is no Google services for the Kindle Fire HDX, unfortunately.
“Kindle Fire HDX 7″ is the ideal tech companion if you’re looking to enjoy some rest and relaxation with a movie, TV show, book, play some of your favorite games or browse the web. In addition, purchase of the Fire Phone includes one year of Prime, which allows you to access tens of thousands of movies and TV shows at no additional cost with Prime Instant Video or enjoy over a million ad-free songs and playlists with Prime Music. You can choose from over 500,000 books from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, as frequently as a book a month. With X-Ray, you can also look up characters or key phrases while reading a book, song lyrics while your music is playing, and movie trivia while watching on the tablet.”
So starting, October 24th, you’ll be able to buy an Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch from AT&T. Not sure how well this will do for AT&T, but I’m sure they’ll sell a few. Maybe it’ll help boost the sales of the Fire Phone, but I’m not confident on that right now.
