This morning, Motorola and Verizon announced the next evolution of the DROID Family, in the DROID Ultra. It’s a beast. So we’re going to take an in-depth look at all of it’s specs.
The Motorola DROID Turbo features a 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 resolution IPS LCD Display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and no microSD card slot. We’ve also got a 21MP auto-focus camera capable of 4K video as well as Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, and HDR. As far as WiFi goes, it’s Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot. It also does Bluetooth 4.0 LE and it has micro USB 2.0. So no USB 3.0 here, unfortunately. It’ll be available in metallic black and metallic red. Additionally it has support for Verizon’s XLTE network.
On the software side, we’re looking at Android 4.4.4 with a few improvements from Motorola and Verizon. We aren’t looking at an entire skin here from Motorola on the new DROID Turbo, but a few apps. These include Moto Voice, Moto Actions, Moto Assist, Moto Display, Motorola Migrate, Droid Zap, Highlight Reel, EAC, Quick Office, Zap Zone, Zap to TV, and Zap with Voice.
So as I said, Motorola has a beast on their hands here with the DROID Turbo, which also comes with Motorola’s Turbo Charger. Between the DROID Turbo, the Nexus 6 and the Moto X, they’ve got a really solid high-end line up here for the fall. Also don’t forget the Moto G and Moto E. Motorola really has something for everyone. But don’t forget that the DROID Turbo is a Verizon exclusive and no GSM variant is in the works, according to Motorola.
