Today’s HTC Double Exposure event was all about two devices; The HTC Re Camera and the HTC Desire Eye smartphone. We already know that the Re Camera will cost $199 and that the pre-orders are already live although the camera hasn’t officially launched just yet. What we haven’t officially heard from HTC so far is how much the Desire Eye will cost when it launches, and furthermore we don’t have any details on when it launches either. HTC has kept quiet about those particular details, but that hasn’t stopped a rumored price on the phone from coming to light.
According to French website Nowhere Else, the phone will seemingly cost a total of 529 Euros,(€529)which puts it at a retail cost that’s just as expensive as the HTC One M8, HTC’s 2014 flagship that launched earlier this year. That likely means that the Desire Eye will be the same retail cost as the HTC One M8 matching the respective prices of its launch regions where the M8 already exists. That isn’t too hard to believe given that the hardware specs on the inside of the Desire Eye are largely similar to that of what the M8 holds. Aside from the dual 13MP wide angle lens cameras both with dual-led flash, the Desire Eye has the same CPU with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, and it houses 2GB of RAM and a Full HD display, also both found on the M8.
It does however come without the metal unibody design, and instead opts for a more visually vivid design with the single unibody plastic housing with two colors. The Desire Eye holds a 2400mAh battery inside so the capacity of a days use should be long enough to take it from getting up in the morning to when you need to plug it in at night. Although usage is different with everyone so mileage will vary of course. In addition to the leaked price, Nowhere Else is also stating that HTC will be launching and selling the device by the end of this month. If this information is true, look for the opportunity to pick yourself up an HTC Desire Eye before the end of October.
