Samsung Galaxy S5 Active Availability In Europe Leaked

Samsung have released a whole bunch of devices this year with the most recent including the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge and the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. However, back at the start of the year Galaxy launched the first of their 2014 flagship devices the Samsung Galaxy S5. Following this, back in May of this year Samsung released a hybrid rugged version of the S5 known as the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. At its launch the S5 Active went on sale as an exclusive AT&T device but since then details of international variants, release dates and pricing have been largely a mystery. It was recently reported that the S5 Active was available in Japan from October 4th, but little was known about its European debut. The closest we got in terms of a European launch was reports last month that the S5 Active would be available in Europe ‘shortly’.

Well here is the latest S5 Active European news. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is definitely going to be available in Europe. The confirmation has not been made officially by Samsung but instead came through some eagle-eyed spotters who noted the relative firmware numbers on Samsung’s servers. According to the leaked information the S5 Active will launch in the following European countries. Austria, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, France, Switzerland, Poland, Slovenia, Germany, Italy and the UK. Unfortunately, the leaked information does not include any details on pricing and as such this remains another unknown. However, rumors have previously suggested the device will go on sale in Europe for roughly €630 which in turn is roughly $800.

Generally speaking, the S5 Active adopts the same spec list as the standard Galaxy S5 although as you would expect with an Active tag this device is built for the adventurous type. As such the S5 Active features (like the standard S5) a 5.1″ Full HD Super AMOLED Display. Inside the device comes with 2GB RAM and powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. The Active elements include being dust and waterproof as well as a rugged outer shell casing which protects against the many drops, bangs and falls the device might encounter. There is also a whole bunch of sensors thrown in including a heart rate monitor, barometer (for elevation and atmospheric pressure), compass and an active shutter button for underwater image snapping. So there you go. Kind of confirmation that the S5 Active will indeed hit Europe soon although no further details on price. Are you Europe based? Will you be picking up the S5 Active when it finally lands? Let us know.
