Samsung's Galaxy A5 Might Ship With a Non-Removable Back

Samsung will release a line of Galaxy A phones which are based off of Galaxy Alpha the company released back in August. Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 are mentioned throghout a ton of leaks which we’ve seen thus far. According to a newest leak from China hints at a possibility that the Galaxy A5 will sport a non-removable back, which means the battery will be sealed in. This image shows what appears to be a Galaxy A5 sketch and it seems to be a Chinese manual of the device. This isn’t exactly all that surprising considering the Galaxy Alpha also ships with a non-removable back. This could also mean the A3 and A7 will meet the same fate and will ship with a sealed in battery. SIM tray seems to be on the side of the Galaxy A5 according to this listing, there are not references to a fingerprint scanner here, so that could mean the Galaxy A series won’t sport one. This is also kind of logical considering the latest reports are claiming China will be the main market for these smartphones (even though they’ll be launched globally) so the company probably wants to keep the price as low as possible. They have to offer devices which can compete with Xiaomi’s offerings considering Samsung is increasingly losing market share, especially in China.

We still don’t know when will these devices actually hit the market, but we’ve seen tons of leaks when it comes to them, as I already mentioned. Galaxy A5 listing appeared in Kazakhstan with a pricing set at $553, which isn’t exactly affordable nor does it pose any threat to Xiaomi. This is, of course, not confirmed or anything, it’s just a random leak. We’ve also seen some press renders of the device and according to GFXBench listing, this handset will sport a 4.8 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz will power on this device along with an Adreno 306 GPU. On the back of the device, you’ll be able to find a 12-megapixel shooter while Samsung will include a 5-megapixel snapper on the front, according to GFXBench at the very least. Galaxy A5 will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung’s UI on top of it, of course.

There you have it. If the earlier pricing leak is legit, this device will be far from competition for Xiaomi. It will be interesting to see what Samsung plans to do with these devices, I doubt they’ll be able to stop the revenue drops if they don’t find the right price for these devices. Either way, do you mind a non-removable battery or is it a requirement when you purchase your devices?
