Sharp Aquos Crystal Now Available From Boost Mobile For $149.99

Back in August Sharp (remember them) launched the Sharp Aquos Crystal. If you missed the announcement the first time round, then it’s time for the obligatory recap. Now first off it is worth noting this device is not being touted as a top-spec flagship device. Instead the device is far more mid-range offering a 5″ display with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside the device comes with a modest 1.5GB RAM and a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor (clocks at 1.2 GHz). The Aquos Crystal also offers 8GB internal memory and the standard external MicroSD slot (up to 128GB). In terms of snapping the devices comes with again a modest 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front shooter. The device comes with a not-so-special 2040mAh battery and running out of the box on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat).

So what’s the fuss! Well, the big selling point of the Aquos Crystal is its screen. Although the resolution is nothing to write home about the display real estate is. Put simply the Sharp Aquos Crystal has one of the lowest (if not the lowest) bezel count ever noted. This means the screen is all screen (or as close as can be) with the touchable screen running as close to the edge as is humanly possible. So in spite of the device lacking in the hardware this does look to be a rather attractive looking device.

When the Aquos Crystal was originally launched it was highly expected to be a Japan only device. Although that changed almost immediately after its release with Sprint announcing their intention to get it to US shores. The latest news on this is it will be available from Sprint October 17th on a paid contract. If Sprint on-contract is for you then you will want to know that the Aquos Crystal will be available with $0 down and $10 a month on a 24 month contract. If you are interested in Sprint pre-paid then there is good news and bad news. The Aquos Crystal is already available via Best Buy on Sprint pre-paid and you can buy it now. However, Best Buy does not seem to be shipping the item and instead it’s a store pick-up item only. As a result, getting hold of the device will be more hit-or-miss depending on whether your store is actually carrying it. However, if you just cannot wait and want the lowest bezel device then head over to Sprint’s MVNO Boost Mobile. The Sharp Crystal is available now on pre-paid with Boost, in-stock and shipping and all for a low $149.99 price.
