Some of you may have never heard of this device or brand, though we did talk about it quite recently actually. Smartisan T1 launched back in May, though that was the 3G version of the device. We’ve recently reported that the 4G variant of that device will be available starting October 18 and it seems that it was spot on. This is now official, if you follow the source link below (and live in China) you’ll be able to reserve / pre-order a copy of this device for yourself and then get it on October 18th. The company has 10,000 units ready to go on the opening day and the current pre-order price is 3500 Yuan ($570). If you pre-order now you get an additional 200 Yuan worth of warranty service. It seems this device is supported by China Mobile and China Unicom 4G networks.
Smartisan T1 is sporting a 4.95-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics rendering. Smartisan T1 comes with 3GB of RAM and it is currently available in 16 and 32GB variants. As far as cameras are concerned, Sony’s Exmor RS 12.78-megapixel CMOS sensor with Fujitsu Milbeaut Mobile is located at the back of this device while there’s a 5-megapixel sensor on the front of the device (f/2.4 aperture). This device comes with the usual array of sensors and connectivity options, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, USB 2.0 and miracast are all accounted for and will be a part of the 4G version of the device as well as everything else listed here. The device supports Hi-Fi mode with an embedded OPA2604 Operational Amplifier chip from Texas Instruments. You might notice the device looks really similar to some iPhone devices, that’s because Smartisan T1 was designed by an ex-Apple designer Robert Brunner. The T1 is based on Android 4.4 KitKat OS but it runs a custom Smartisan OS on top of it. Smartisan OS is actually an Android ROM which has been available for a while now.
At the time of writing this article, there are over 80,000 pre-orders booked already. As a side note, an alleged Smartisan T2 image already leaked recently, though I doubt we’ll see that device launched anytime soon.
