Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors are regarded as the best of the best when it comes to mobile SoC, not by everyone, but many people do believe that. Snapdragon chips are powering on the majority of today’s flagship devices as well as a ton of low and mid-range device, not to mention that every single one Android Wear device (except for Moto 360) is powered by a Snapdragon 400 CPU. That being said, OEMs and users alike have been waiting for the next Snapdragon SoC to hit the market and next in line is Snapdragon 810, a 64-bit octa-core chip by Qualcomm which comes with an Adreno 430 GPU. We’ve seen the first Snapdragon 810-powered hardware released a couple of days ago, though it was reference hardware for developers, but still, we’re talking about some beastly specs here. Smartphone is equipped with a 6.2-inch 2K display, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and a Snapdragon 810, the same goes for the tablet, except it features a 4K display, instead of a 2K panel. Talking about reference hardware, sources from China decided to run AnTuTu benchmarks on it and compare it to a Tegra K1, let’s see what’s what. In said test, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (inside of the reference hardware) managed to score 52,275, while Tegra K1 scored about 51,000 when tested. The source didn’t mention which device was used to test the K1, but I assume we’re talking about either the Nvidia Shield or Nexus 9, both of which are powered by Nvidia’s beastly K1 chip. The conclusion? Well, we all know that higher benchmark results really don’t have to mean that the higher-scoring device will perform better, but it’s a good guideline of sort. Both of these processors scored amazing results and no matter which one powers your device, it should run as smooth as butter. I doubt we’ll see many devices powered by Snapdragon 810 processor in the coming weeks, but they should start coming out next year, perhaps Q2? That’s just my guess of course.
