HTC held an event in New York back in October where the company announced their new Desire Eye handset and a RE Camera device. HTC Desire Eye is a rather odd device, especially considering HTC is its manufacturer. HTC Desire Eye packs some really solid hardware including Snapdragon 801 CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 5.2-inch 1080p. What’s most interesting when it comes to this device are its camera offerings. This handset actually has two 13-megapixel sensors built-in, one on the front side of the device and the other on the back side of the handset. HTC released some new camera features along with this device, though the HTC did mention these “Eye Experience” features will reach HTC’s flagship, One M8, soon.
This software actually already launched for European version of the M8 handset, as well as some other versions of the handset. The update will reach HTC One M8 in Canada soon as well. HTC’s Mo Versi shared this information on Twitter by indicating the update will be available for users on Rogers, Telus and Bell on November 11th at 9 AM PST. I’m guessing he meants November 11th considering he shared this status at 4:17 AM on November 10th, either way, the update is coming. The “Eye Experience” software brings along camera-centric features that include: face tracking, split capture, face fusion, voice selife, live makeup and photo booth. HTC also mentioned that One M7, One Mini 2 and One Max will be receiving this update in the future as well.
HTC’s “Eye Experience” software actually brings some neat camera features to the table and I believe HTC One M8’s camera experience will become much more interesting for M8’s users. HTC is really pushing these camera-centric devices, RE Camera is basically a GoPro camera competitor and HTC Desire Eye’s main feature is obviously its camera, or should I say cameras. HTC is doing everything they can in order to sell more devices and get back on the right track, let’s see if these new handsets will help the company. We don’t have an ETA on when the company will push these features to the One M7, One Mini 2 and One Max, but at least One M8 users can enjoy them now.
