When a big corporation like LG shuffles around executives, it’s normally a sign that there’s something wrong, but that couldn’t be further from the truth for LG, as they’ve had one of their best years throughout 2014. With big successes like the G3 driving record-breaking sales for the company, LG is looking to keep the ball rolling, and potentially keep growth moving. Whether or not a reshuffle at the top is going to do just that is something we’ll have to wait and see about, but we’re sure that LG wouldn’t undertake such a decision without weighing everything up.
Current head of LG Mobile Communications, Dr. Jong-seok Park, will be moving into a newly created role of Chief Technology Advisor. Meanwhile, filling his shoes will be Juno Cho, current President of LG Corporation, the holding company for LG Electronics. Mr Cho is described as “strong knowledge of LG’s mobile operations, having previously led LG’s mobile business strategy and sales and marketing for North America from 2000-2007” and it would stand to reason that his previous experience in North America was the driving force behind this decision. The G3 has been a successful device for LG in North America, a market that before last year’s G2 they were mostly an underdog in.
It’s more than just the mobile sector that’s getting reshuffled over at LG, but I doubt you care too much about air conditioning and LED monitors. Either way, all of the reshuffling comes into effect on December 1st of this year, so it looks like LG will be entering 2015 with some different management at the helm. Next year could be a very interesting year for the mobile industry, with a wave of new mobile processors from the likes of Qualcomm and Samsung struggling it seems like LG or Motorola could make some serious inroads and wobble Samsung’s crown more than a little bit. Will changing the management at the top help LG to continue their success next year? Let us know your thoughts!
