LG has enjoyed newfound success in the mobile market thanks to the the LG G2 of last year, but more so with this year’s LG G3. One of the best smartphones of 2014, the G3 was one of the first devices to hit the market with a Quad HD display, with 5.5-inches packed with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. We reviewed the G3 and found it to be an excellent smartphone, and easily the best LG has ever shipped. The company has enjoyed some significant sales from the device this year and it seems like LG might have climbed the ladder to the top, giving Samsung something else to worry about.
In South Korea, LG’s home market, the company has decided to the cut the price of the G3 quite significantly, down to 799,700 Won ($720) from 899,800 Won ($810). This is a pretty significant drop in price, especially for a market that relies mostly on heavy subsidies from mobile networks and such. Speaking of mobile contracts, the G3 has fallen from a price of 264,000 Won subsidized to a scant 150,000 Won which is roughly $135. There’s no word on whether or not the G3 is to get a permanent price drop on a global level, but with Black Friday just a few days away, those in the US will no doubt be able to get some ridiculous deals on the G3 towards the end of this week.
We can’t imagine that LG is putting the G3 out to pasture just yet, after all there’s a lot of life left in the device. With an Android 5.o Lollipop update having already rolled out in parts of Europe and soon to hit South Korea, this is a device that still has what it takes to be considered one of the best available and we’re sure that many just finding the device will be more than happy with LG’s flagship from 2014.
