LG Electronics is doing great lately. The company has significant increased profit from selling handsets and it’s all going just fine, I’d even say great, for LG. The G line of devices really helped with LG’s image and sales I believe and it will be interesting to see what the company has planned for the release of the G4. We’re not here to talk about the G4 or any LG smartphone for that matter. Some interesting reports are going around and they regard the mysterious tablet LG is reportedly working on. Anyhow, let’s see what’s going on.
If you recall, LG released the Tab Book back in July, which is an Intel-powered Android tablet, oh yeah, it’s also a hybrid device. This device has a slideout keyboard, which we really don’t see all that often. It seems like LG is aiming to push things a step forward and rival Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3. Now, when I say rival, I mean release a tablet which is similar to Microsoft’s offering, at least that’s what CNET’s sources are reporting. We still have no idea whether this device will be an Android powered tablet or will it perhaps run Windows, like Surface does, so take this report with a pinch of salt of course. CNET reports that the device will feature an Intel fourth generation Core processor and will have the ability to act as both the tablet and a laptop, which basically means you’ll be able to attach a keyboard to it. The Solid State Drive (SSD) will allegedly also be included in this package.
Going further back, the original LG Tab Book from 2013 actually runs Windows, so we really don’t know what will this tablet run. The logical move would be Android, LG is all about Android these days and I can’t really see them releasing a Windows-powered tablet, but who knows. In the end, it would seem odd if LG went back to Windows after releasing an Android-powered Tab Book. Although, the Tab Book wasn’t really all that successful int he market, so LG might try a different approach. Anyhow, I’m spinning in circles here, we still don’t know if this tablet will run Android or not and when we find out, we’ll make sure to let you know as soon as possible.
