Moto X Will Launch In China, Says Motorola, Gives No Specific Date

You all probably know by know that Lenovo acquired Motorola Mobility from Google a while back. Many people were against selling Motorola Mobility, which is understandable, but the deal went through anyway. Motorola’s handset weren’t exactly available in China up to this point, but this purchase will shift things around it seems. Motorola’s PR Manager for Asia-Pacific region, Si Xuanjun, confirmed that Motorola will sell devices in China soon though he wasn’t specific. Chinese users would love to get their hands on Motorola devices, for sure, especially company’s latest flagship device, 2nd-gen Moto X. General Manager of Lenovo earlier confirmed that Nexus 6 will also arrive in the country “at the right time”. Chinese users can expect the removal of Google Services though, China blocks certain Google services and it will be interesting to see how will the phone look once it’s launched there. Users will be able to install Google services manually of course, but it remains to be seen how will the phone look out of the box, software-wise.

Moto X will probably cost over 4,000 Yuan ($652) in China once it launches, which is the price of a beastly Nexus handset in the US for example. Moto X is a far more affordable handset in US while the price goes up in certain European countries, but still, it’s nowhere near this expensive. These are only rumors at this point though and I hope that Lenovo / Motorola will find a way to sell this phone at a much lower price because this really doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, especially considering that Lenovo now owns Motorola. Motorola Moto X features a 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED display along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of non-expandable storage. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor and it ships with 13 and 2-megapixel camera sensors. The 13-megapixel sensor is located on the back of the device and flanked by a dual-LED flash, while the 2-megapixel one can be found on the front of the phone, above the screen. Motorola Moto X ships with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but it can already be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop, not to mention we’re talking about Google’s stock experience here with the addition of a couple of Motorola home-baked apps.
