Motorola Moto Maxx Not To Be Released In Europe

Like many Android fans, I was genuinely excited at the Motorola Droid Turbo. Motorola have used a 2.7 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, a 20.7 MP main camera, 3,900 mAh battery and a super high resolution 5.2-inch screen (that’s 2,560 by 1,440 pixels). And it’s not that I dislike the Nexus 6, which has similar specifications but is a bigger device, it’s just that I suspect I’ll prefer the smaller 5.2-inch screen and accompanying chassis size. It was as though Motorola took every high end desirable component in the Android sphere at the moment and combined them to form a relatively compact flagship device. They’ve also splashed it with some Moto magic dust in that it uses a near-stock interface with some useful applications built into the device and as the icing on the cake… made it a Verizon Wireless exclusive. Verizon isn’t available in the UK and it’s not as though I could pick up a device from the USA and use it over here, because once it drops off LTE it won’t work with our networks.

There has been a glimmer of hope because Motorola announced the Moto Maxx as a GSM version of the Droid Turbo to be launched into Latin America. But sadly, Motorola France have said that the Moto Maxx isn’t coming to Europe. Motorola haven’t alluded as to why the Moto Maxx isn’t coming to Europe and we can speculate that it’s because they want to sell more Moto X, more Nexus 6 devices, or perhaps it’s because they believe the European smartphone market is even more cutthroat than the Americas, or maybe it’s because… we don’t know. And I don’t care, I wanted to have the chance to buy one over here.

The above written, I do need to write that I don’t feel hard done by with the Nexus 6 and 2014 Moto X. Both are great devices in their own right. Arguably, the QHD resolution is superfluous on the 5.2-inch screen and who’s going to need a 2.7 GHz quad core processor on a smartphone, anyway? The Moto X is probably all the smartphone I’d ever need… until I go away for a weekend and don’t bring a charger with me, right?Okay; I can make excuses all evening as to why I’d like the Moto Maxx over the Nexus 6 or the Moto X but ultimately, if I’m to change my device, I’d rather get something at the very top of the tree.
