Meizu has big ambitions, no doubt about that. This Chinese smartphone manufacturer has enjoyed tremendous success with its MX4 handset they launched back in September. The company has also launched an even more powerful device yesterday, Meizu MX4 Pro. This handset features a 5.5-inch 2K display, 3GB of RAM and 16, 32 or 64GB of internal storage. Samsung’s Exynos 5430 octa-core processor is powering on this beast and it ships with Android 4.4 KitKat with Meizu’s Flyme OS on top of it. On the back of the device you’ll find a 20.7-megapixel camera while there’s a 5-megapixel shooter located on the front of the device. This Chinese manufacturer has been shipping Meizu MX4 worldwide, though it didn’t sell that device officially in countries outside of Asia. Meizu’s ambitions are definitely greater than just Asia, the company definitely wants to expand in the future. We’ve heard all sorts of rumors up to this point and now we have a new one to share with you.
According to the new rumor that came our way from China, Meizu is planning to release a somewhat different version of their MX4 device to other markets, including European one. Europe is the only continent mentioned in this rumor as the matter a fact. Anyhow, the rumor says that Meizu will completely revamp its software offering within the MX4 in this European version of the handset. I always believed they’ll just implement all Google apps inside and remove some stuff from the current Flyme build, but a complete revamp sounds serious. So serious that Meizu might not even use Flyme when they decide to launch this thing, though I believe that is somewhat far-fetched, I doubt Meizu would give up on Flyme.
What’s even more interesting here is that Nokia is mentioned in this rumor. The alleged codename of this handset is “Supreme” and Nokia is rumored to be involved in this whole story somehow. This information does not specify how, or anything of the sort, but it does mention Nokia. Take this rumor with a pinch of salt, as always, it seems way too far fetched to be the legit in my opinion. Meizu might be planning to release the MX4 in Europe, that seems logical, but a more serious software change doesn’t make any sense and Nokia really doesn’t fit in there. I could be wrong and this might actually pan out in the end, we’ll just have to wait and see.
