Description: As you’ve probably already guessed, Tappy Cricket is a game that features elements of classic Flappy Bird gameplay and elements we’d associate with a good old game of cricket. There are three different venues for you to explore, it features leaderboards using Google Play Games and the whole thing is completely free to play, with a few ads here and there of course. A game that would appeal to those happy with Flappy Bird’s gameplay and difficult, but wanting something more well, Cricket-y Tappy Cricket seems like a great option, so let’s see how good it really is, shall we?
How it Works: As with other games on Android, you’ll need to download Tappy Cricket from Google’s Play Store. From there, you’ll be asked whether or not you want to sign in to Google Play Games. If you’re the competitive type, then your answer is definitely yes.
Once you’ve signed in, you can take a look at your scores, start a new game in singleplayer or multiplayer.
You’ll be given a quick introduction to the game and as you’re right to expect, the game is really quite easy to control at least.
Dodging the obstacles seems pretty simple at first and indeed it’s not a difficult mechanic, but what is difficult is the very hard to control cricket ball, who is really quite heavy. After a few tries, I found myself failing really quite quickly. This is a tough game to play and for a lot of people that might be its killer feature.
At the end of your run, when you’re hit out so to speak, you’ll be given a look at your score.
As you can see, I’m not all that good at Tappy Cricket, and to add to things there are three different venues to keep you on your toes.
Opinion: Tappy Cricket is, let’s face it, another Flappy Bird game. There’s no denying that, but this is also a game that’s all its own. Sure, this is still a very similar game, but with much better backdrops, and three of them to choose from, excellent Google Play Games integration and a serious difficulty level, Tappy Cricket is something to take a look at. Especially if you’re a cricket fan, and while this is a similar game, let’s boil it down to this; it plays well, it’s certainly challenging and it’s great to compete against your friends with. Fun for perhaps older players, Tappy Cricket is an easy to get to grips with, difficult to master game that doesn’t try too hard and doesn’t ask too much of its players.

Cons
- This is definitely similar to a lot of other titles out there.
- For some, it might be just too difficult.
Conclusion: At the end of the day, Tappy Cricket is a fun game that doesn’t try too hard, and yet manages to offer a compelling mobile experience. It’s challenging, you can compete online with others and it’s one of the more satisfying games around that use this sort of mechanic and I can’t say much more. The three backgrounds are great and it’s really challenging. Simple to pick up and play, challenging and good fun without trying too hard, there’s no reason not to give this a whirl.
