Elephone is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer which doesn’t exactly releases a ton of devices a year and concentrates mainly on affordable and yet well-built devices. The company has launched a range of G devices back in September, G3, G4 and G5. All of these devices are affordable, mid-range handsets. Well, Elephone has just listed yet another mid-range handset on company’s official website, though this one is somewhat more powerful than the G series and what we’re used to seeing from Elephone, but still a mid-range offering. Anyhow, let’s see what’s what.
Elephone P8 Pro features a 5.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card). The device is powered by MediaTek’s MT6592 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz and it ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat. On the back of this handset you’ll find a 13-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture) and an LED flash, this handset also sports a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. 2650mAh battery comes along with this handset and the device ships with the usual array of sensors. Wi-Fi, GPS, OTG; FM Radio, Bluetooth 4.0 and 3G connectivity are all on board. This is also a dual-SIM device. The device measures 157 x 81 x 8.2mm and it weighs 149 grams. Elephone also includes some custom software in this device, like Air Gestures for example.
This handset is made out of magnesium and aluminum in order to give you that sleek and quality look and feel. This company might not be making the high-end handsets some people may want, but they do make rather design-appealing handsets though, despite the fact this handset looks like certain Samsung Galaxy handsets. Even company’s lower-end offerings are sporting some sort of metal included in the build process and that is somewhat commendable. Elephone is growing, slowly but surely this Chinese smartphone manufacturer is going up and who knows, perhaps it will be available to create some serious competition for China’s biggest OEMs.
Elephone didn’t share the release date or the price for this handset just yet, but I guess the price will be rather affordable considering the specs and the way Elephone sells phones and the device should launch by the end of this year.
