This Weekend Sprint Customers Get $50 Play Store Credit With Nexus 6 Purchase

The Google Nexus 6 has only been out for a short while. Therefore, if you were hoping to pick one up on the cheap over Black Friday, it is doubtful. That said, it does seem there will be benefits to be had with the newly released (and constantly out of stock) device. A leaked memo obtained from the guys over at Android Police shows that Google have teamed up with Sprint to offers its customers some sort of Black Friday deal.

According to the memo (shown below), Sprint customers who pick up a Nexus 6 over the Black Friday weekend can claim $50 back in Play Store Credit. Now this is not exactly a money-off deal but as mentioned it is unlikely to find a deal of that sort this time round. So this might be your best bet. And before you start making plans to outwit Google and Sprint, it does seem that you have to be a Sprint customer to get the Play Store credit. Again, according to the memo, customers who pick up the Nexus 6 will be sent a Play Store redemption code by text to their Sprint number (you see no beating the system). Once received, the customers can log-on and claim their free credit. In terms of caveats (and besides being a Sprint customer) there are a few to note. The Nexus 6 does have to be purchased over the weekend (that’s November 28th through to December 1st). The Nexus 6 also needs to be activated before January 15th 2015. To add to this, the credit must be applied (redemption claimed) to a Google account by January 31st, 2015. Lastly, you will have a year to spend the free Play credit, with the expiry date set for January 31st 2016.

If you are worried about getting hold of the Nexus 6 (and the credit) over the weekend then don’t be. According to the memo, the credit will apply to purchase made “in all channels selling the Nexus 6”. As such, you should not have a problem buying the device either in-store or online. So there you go. If you were tethering on the edge of whether to buy a Nexus 6 or the increased price (compared to previous Nexuses) then this might go some way to helping you feel better and making the decision. Any Sprint customers out there? You gonna take advantage of the deal?
