One of the World's Thinnest Handset, Oppo R5, Gets Unboxed

Oppo is a rather successful smartphone manufacturer in China. Consumers in that Asian country actually hold Oppo in high regard, this company makes high-quality smartphones and it seems Chinese consumers recognize that, even though Oppo’s devices are often more expensive than what company has to offer. Anyway, Oppo launched 2 new handsets about a month ago, Oppo N3 and R5. Oppo N3 is company’s newest flagship handset and a successor to Oppo N1, and yeah, we still don’t know why Oppo skipped over the N2 branding. Oppo R5, on the other hand, is currently the slimmest phone on the planet, might not be for long, but it currently is. This smartphone is only 4.85mm thick, which makes it unbelievably thin, but it also means that it has a small battery on the inside, a 2000mAh unit.

Anyhow, we’ve covered Oppo N3 unboxing a couple of days ago and now we bring you the unboxing of the extremely thin, Oppo R5, handset, courtesy of My Drivers. If you take a look below this article, you’ll notice a bunch of R5 unboxing images. You’ll notice that the device ships in a rather interesting wooden box, which is kind of awesome actually. The box has a triangle shape from the front and the back and the device slides out when you open it, as you can see down below. It’s kind of weird to get excited about the box in which the device ships, but when you unbox a ton of smartphone you get really bored with the usual packaging, this is really refreshing. I really doubt this is the retail packaging though, this is quite probably a special edition packaging, I’m actually rather certain of it. On the inside, you’ll find the device itself along with Oppo’s well-known “O” ejector tool, earphones, charger, manual and of course that VOOC charger which will charge your device in no time. The portal also compares the device to what seems to be the iPhone 5S, which seems rather thick in comparison.

There you have it, Oppo R5 is a rather interesting piece of technology and a rather powerful device. If you’re interested to check out its full specifications, follow this link. Oppo still didn’t say whether the device will ship outside of Asia and when, but stay tuned.
