Oppo is a well-known smartphone brand in China, this company has produced really solid smartphones in the past and people had high expectations for this year. Oppo announced their new Oppo N3 flagship at the end of October (and is already available in China), along with the (at the time) thinnest smartphone in the world, Oppo R5. The R5 is not the thinnest smartphone in the world anymore, but it is a solid smartphone offering nonetheless. Oppo N3 definitely stole the spotlight at that event though, this handset offers some unique features thanks to that huge rotating camera on the top and is extremely well-built. Unfortunately, this also means the device is quite expensive, it seems like Oppo wants to offer a somewhat cheaper variant of this handset to its consumers.
Oppo N5209 got certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent of the FCC), and it is basically an Oppo N3 smartphone, but a lower RAM count variant. The original Oppo N3 features 3GB of RAM, this model will ship with “only” 2GB though. Other than this, we’re looking at the exact same Oppo N3, the size, weight, display… right down to CPU clock speed, it’s all the same. This handset features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with the aforementioned 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC is powering on this thing and is clocked at 2.3GHz, while an Adreno 330 GPU is here to take care of graphics processing. 16-megapixel auto-rotating camera is located on the top of the device and it is kind of hard to miss actually. Fingerprint scanner is located at the back of this handset and the device will ship with a 3000mAh battery on the inside. Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here with Oppo’s ColorUI on top of it. 161.2 x 77 x 9.9 mm are the device’s measurements and it weighs 192 grams.
That’s is, the original Oppo N3 is already available in China and this device will be available rather soon I presume considering it got certified. The original 3GB version of this device costs 3,999 Yuan ($642) in China, which is extremely expensive, this device should be a bit more affordable, but I doubt the difference will be that big, perhaps 3,499 Yuan ($562) or something like that.
