Connected Home products and home automation products are still very new, but the last year was good to this category of technological devices as we have seen quite a few more make their debut. The Nest learning thermostat is easily the most well known, but there are a range of different products offered by various other OEMs that want to help you make your home a smarter, more connected, and efficient place to live. ARCHOS is one of those companies with their ARCHOS Connected Home system which they tout as an open system for everyone. We did a review of this device setup back in September of 2014 which you can check out here just in case you wanted to see how it performed.
The ARCHOS Smart Home gateway works on 433MHz technology which ARCHOS states makes this essentially a “mission control center for the connected home” and opens it up to compatibility with other products from major brands. One of the notable features pointed out by ARCHOS is the new compatibility with FOSCAM cameras so you can link in and stream video feeds of what the cameras are pointed at, allowing you to always have a picture of what’s happening at any given time.
The ARCHOS Connected Home system is also compatible with IFTT, which opens up a world of possibilities for automating simple home tasks like sending tweets that enable the lights to turn on or off, or using proximity based commands to turn on your Nest thermostat when you arrive home. Having such an open system is a great idea in this respect, and our own Nick Sutrich who reviewed this product says it was a great setup at a fantastic value for everything that you get. The products like the tablet start at $99, and the entire package setup will cost you about $228.99 on Amazon if you’re keen on giving this thing a try. If you have visions of automating as much as you possibly can within your home, this would be a great place to start, and ARCHOS has already set this system up to accept even more compatibility with future devices thanks to their open approach.
