The Asus ZenWatch is arguably one of the prettier smartwatches out there. Launched earlier this year at IFA in berlin, the device did instantly attract some attention. Following on from IFA, the ZenWatch was finally made available last month in the US via the Google Play Store and priced at $199.99. In terms of the rest of the world, this was largely the extent of its release. That said, it was reported last week that the ZenWatch would go on sale in the UK starting from December 23rd (which is tomorrow by the way). This was via your friendly local mega electronics store, Currys PC World.
If you were hoping to snag the ZenWatch for a last minute Christmas gift (or one for yourself) then you are just in time, with the touted December 23rd date. That said, today is a day earlier and the ZenWatch now looks to be on sale online at Currys PC World. It is not clear why it has gone live a day earlier than expected, although the listing does state that you can order online and pick up from a day later (tomorrow basically). So this, is sort of a pre-order stage although home delivery is listed as available now. It is not clear if this day early pick-up pre-order service, is an indication of whether stocks are low or whether they are expecting significant demand for the device. That said if you were thinking of picking one up tomorrow, then you might be wise to order now and then just mosey on down to Currys tomorrow to collect. Better option than queuing up in-store on the December 23rd anyway.
If you are going for the ZenWatch, then the price is currently set at the expected £199.99. The ZenWatch comes with a 1.63″ AMOLED display with 320 x 320 resolution. Inside the ZenWatch comes with 512MB RAM, A Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 4GB internal storage. If you are not in a rush for it, then you can always place your order today, hit delivery and let Royal Mail (slowly) bring the device to your door, sometime after the big day.
