We get to see all sorts of interesting stuff in this line of work, including all sorts of interesting smartphone concepts. The fun begins when those concepts become a reality, like the Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge handset, for example, or the more recent AQUOS Crystal offering by Sharp. There’s nothing ground-breaking when it comes to those devices, but they’re different, that of course doesn’t have to mean they’re great, but they’re interesting no matter which way you look at it. China is quite often a source of rather interesting handsets as well, we’ve been hearing rumors that ZTE is planning to release a bezel-less Nubia Z9 device in the coming months and today we stumbled upon yet another extremely interesting image.
You’ve probably heard of Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Coolpad. This company tends to release interesting and sometimes even compelling devices from time to time, like the Coolpad Platinum Dayton which brings rather interesting security mode and features. Han Geng, a Chinese pop star, released an image on his official Weibo account which allegedly shows the upcoming Coolpad Dazen X7 handset, a high-end offering by Coolpad. If you checked out the image, you know why is this news so interesting, this phone seems to be made completely out of glass. Dazen X7 is allegedly this year’s flagship handset by Coolpad’s Dashen subsidiary, emphasis on “allegedly”. According to a report, this handset will launch on January 8th and will cost around 5000 Yuan ($807) and if this report actually pans out, this will be the first smartphone made entirely out of glass.
I would have never guessed that Coolpad will be the first smartphone manufacturer to release a smartphone made entirely out of glass, and I really doubt that will happen. This seems like something that is still year away, so keep in mind that this isn’t official news or anything of the sort, so take it with a pinch of salt. I know I’d want to mess around with this handset, how about you? Do you think there’s any truth to it and would you like to try it out?
