It’s been almost two months since the Google Nexus 6 was officially announced alongside the new Nexus tablet, the Google Nexus 9, and the Nexus player running Android TV. At that time we learned that all five of the top carriers here in the U.S. would be selling the phone, which means T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, and finally U.S. Cellular would be carrying it at some point in the near future. That last one is the important one here, because at this point in time U.S. Cellular has yet to launch the phone or give details regarding the price or what models they would be selling, all that was stated was that they would be carrying the phone in November. It’s now a week into December and they still haven’t launched the device.
According to a source of ours though, U.S. Cellular will be gearing up to release and sell the Nexus 6 within the coming days, as we have been told that it is slated for a launch on the carrier by December 9th. Now before anyone goes asking, this is just a rumor at this point because we haven’t gotten the information from anyone at U.S. Cellular officially, so take things with a grain of salt. From what we’ve been told, orders on the device through U.S. Cellular stores began yesterday. What we took that to mean was that the store locations that are supposed to have the devices come in on the specified date could order it for customers like a ship-to-fulfill option. Dummy phones of the device are said to be heading to all U.S. Cellular retail locations by December 8th. The top 89 corporate U.S. Cellular locations will also receive live demo units that same day,(next Monday)while receiving sale stock the following day, December 9th.
This is where any U.S. Cellular customers will want to do a little digging, as the information we received states that only the top 89 corporate locations will be getting stock of the Nexus 6. If you aren’t sure whether or not the store nearest you is in the top 89 locations, a simple call to check should be able to get that straightened out. For the participating locations that will supposedly get stock of the device, it will come in both the white and blue models in both the 32GB and 64GB size variants. We weren’t able to get any details on pricing, but if this pans out we imagine that information won’t be too far out anyhow. As we stated this information wasn’t official, but if you subscribe to U.S. Cellular perhaps checking with your local store is in order.
