We’re getting closer and closer to LG releasing the LG G4. We’re expecting to see it at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (which officially starts March 2nd and runs through the 5th), or we might see it shortly after. As LG has had their own separate event for the LG G2 and G3 respectively. Even though it seems like everyone is going back to MWC this year to announce their flagships. So we’re starting to see some leaks and rumors of the LG G4 already. Which we expect to improve – spec wise – a bit over the LG G Flex 2 which was announced at CES last week.
There’s a system dump from the LG G4 that has leaked out, which confirms Android 5.0. As well as 3GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, as well as a 16MP wide camera on the back. The processor is a bit surprising though. Since LG has been working on their own ODIN processor for a bit, and we had heard that it’d be coming in one of their flagships (and since the LG G Flex 2 is running on a Snapdragon 810) we thought the LG G4 would be sporting it. Perhaps it’ll be like Samsung’s Exynos chip and only be in the LG G4 in markets that don’t have LTE. And in LTE markets we’ll have the Snapdragon 810? Who knows.
The camera is a bit interesting. I was really hoping they’d grab Sony’s 20.7MP camera, like Meizu, Motorola and HTC have done. But LG does already have a great camera in the LG G3. So we have a bump from the 13MP camera in the LG G3 to a 16MP wide camera on the back of the LG G4. Hopefully we retain the laser auto focus as well.
We don’t have any info on the display just yet. I think that’ll be the most interesting part. Seeing as the LG G Flex 2 is actually smaller than the G Flex. Also, the G Flex 2 is the same size as the LG G3. So are we going to see a smaller display? We have seen some rumors point to a 5.2 or 5.3 inch display though. Would you like to have a slightly smaller smartphone from LG? Let us know in the comments below.
