Not too long ago, Samsung introduced a new line of devices with the Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7. As of writing, there isn’t too much known about the devices outside of their specs, and the fact that they’re heading to India. Now though, it looks like the Galaxy E5 is to launch in Russia, and that it won’t exactly be all that cheap. The Galaxy E5 is definitely designed to a mid-range, budget-minded handset and the overall design follows the Galaxy Alpha line, but misses out on the premium metal build.
The Galaxy E5 was announced a 5-inch, 720p Super AMOLED powered by a new Snapdragon 410 64-bit CPU and 1.5GB of RAM and there’s also a 2,400 mAh battery and an 8-megapixel camera capable of 1080p recording. Those specs make it a pretty decent device that doesn’t exactly scream high-end, but with a Russian price tag of RUB 19,990 found online it’s not like Samsung is charging those sort of prices, either. With a fresh design (compared to older Galaxy devices) the Galaxy E5 looks like a decent device, but with a price tag of $325 US or thereabouts, it’s clear that Russian buyers aren’t getting the best deal out there.
This is however, a dual-SIM device (with one slot doubling as a microSD card slot) and with Android 4.4 KitKat onboard with Samsung’s customizations there might be more value here than we originally thought. It appears that all of Samsung new line of devices, like the Galaxy A5 and A7, are to be sold at higher prices than normal in Russia for whatever reason. Hopefully though, this trend doesn’t continue as it would be nice to see Samsung offer true value for money in the region. Would you pay this much for such a device in Russia?
