Xiaomi made some great phones in 2014 and sold tons of them. The company has sold around 60 million devices, which is almost three times as much compared to the year before. This China-based OEM plans to sell even more handsets in 2015, 100 million devices will be hard to reach, but that’s Xiaomi’s plan. They also plan on expanding their business to other areas of the world, like Latin America, India and Russia. It remains to be seen how well will Xiaomi fare in 2015, but it will certainly be an interesting year for the company, and for us as well.
This Chinese smartphone manufacturer produced some great phones in 2014, like the Redmi 1S, Redmi Note (3G and 4G variants) and their flagship, the Mi4. The Redmi Note line was extremely popular in China, so the company decided to offer it in India as well and they managed to sell 40,000 units in just 6 seconds. The sale took place a couple of days ago, and Xiaomi is, of course, extremely pleased with the result of that sale. Xiaomi has partnered with Airtel for that launch and the phones were sold through Flipkart for Rs. 9,999. Airtel has started bookings for the Redmi Note 4G handset on their official site and the phone will be available across 133 stores in six cities in India: Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi-NCR and Kolkata.
“Mi India fans can now book their Redmi Note 4G online and select their preferred Airtel store and date for purchasing the device. Customers purchasing the device will be provided a 4G SIM. Existing 3G users can enjoy 4G speeds on their new Redmi Note 4G at the same tariff as their existing 3G plan, without activating any special 4G plan,” said Airtel, and continued: “In cities where Airtel 4G services are not yet available, customers will be automatically upgraded to 4G at the same tariff as their existing 3G data packs as and when 4G services are rolled out in these cities. The Redmi Note 4G will be sold at these stores on a first-come-first-serve basis.”
This Indian carrier will also organise “Mi Day” events each week at select stores in the aforementioned cities and let customers but the device without pre-booking them. If you’re an Airtel subscriber, you can book the Redmi Note 4G by clicking here.
