The Nexus 6 has been out for a few months now, but so far when it comes to the carrier availability it’s only been available from three out of the four major carriers, leaving out the biggest one which is Verizon Wireless. Since the Nexus 6 is unlocked, you could still just buy the handset through Google Play and use it on Verizon’s network, but surely it’ll be available on a 2-year contract once it hits Big Red. It’s this possibility to pick it up on an agreement with a discounted price that people are clamoring for, and we don’t blame them as it gives them a chance to save some money.
The good news for those on Verizon Wireless’s network is that it appears the Nexus 6 will be available in the coming weeks. Reports from Android Police state that the device looks to be headed to Verizon store shelves on February 26th, which is just a few weeks away. It is unfortunate that it has taken this long for the Verizon model to get a release, but it should have been expected as the same thing happened with the 2013 LTE Nexus 7. Other good news is that the Verizon model of the Nexus 6 supposedly won’t be locked down to Verizon’s network, so if you buy the Verizon model and at some point switch to another carrier, you should be able to use it with whatever carrier you choose.
In addition to the Nexus 6 in the coming weeks, Verizon is scheduled to be releasing a couple more devices beginning in March, which are a new color of the Motorola DROID Turbo, slated for a launch on March 12th in a Sapphire Blue color option, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime device which is scheduled for a launch the week prior on March 5th. If you’re waiting on the Nexus 6 and wondering what you’ll end up paying after signing a 2-year agreement , sadly there wasn’t any official pricing listed along with the tentative date, but we would imagine it being anywhere between $199-$249 on contract. If you don’t care for the 2-year agreement you could always still purchase the device at full cost which is starting at $649, saving you from any 2-year renewal.
