MWC has come and gone, but that was not the first tech announcing highlight of 2015. In spite of only being in March, it was only a few days into the year before CES started in Las Vegas. This was another big tech event with numerous announcements and product unveils coming down the wire. One of those devices which was announced and generally sparked attendees interest was the ZenFone 2 from Asus.
In terms of the specs, the Asus ZenFone comes in a few different variants, with the price of the device ranging from the ultra low $160 up to a still reasonable $300. With $300 being the top end figure, all variants are more than affordable, not to mention are not short when it comes to the actual hardware. For instance, the top priced unit is expected to come with a massive 4GB RAM. In terms of the communal specs, the ZenFone comes with a 5.5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution (1280 x 720 on the lower-priced units). Inside, the RAM ranges from 4GB on the higher priced units down to 2GB on the lower price units and all being powered by an Intel quad-core processor which clocks at 2.3GHz (1.8GHz and 1.6GHz on the lower priced units). Not to mention a 13MP rear shooter is on offer too.
Well, in terms of the latest news it was only yesterday that it was reported that the ZenFone 2 is scheduled to be launched by Asus in China on March 24th. Well, it now seems that ahead of the expected release date, Asus have also gone and released the kernel source code for the ZenFone 2. This will be good news for developers as it will allow them to start working on their various custom kernels, ports, apps and featured for the device. Not to mention, give everyone a code taste of what can be expected from the new ZenFone. Especially when you consider that this will be an Intel processor-powered device which is rare in itself for custom offerings.
