In terms of Android 5.0 (Lollipop), it has been a busy couple of months in HTC’s eyes. They had initially announced they would have the update rolling out to the HTC One M8 and One M7 by the start of February. However, by the time that date rolled around, HTC had to admit that it was going to be slower than expected and some certain carriers would see a delay in receiving their update. Well, since then, and especially quite recently, there has been a bit of an upsurge in the One M7 carrier variants receiving their update. The most recent of which was the T-Mobile update which began landing on Monday, which was actually earlier than the scheduled Tuesday release.
Well, to add to the ever growing HTC One M7 Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update ability, HTC has also been routinely adding RUU files to their servers for users to download and install. For those unfamiliar with RUUs, these are manual installations of the updated ROM. However, unlike more custom ROMs available, RUUs do not need a custom recovery to be installed and instead allow HTC users to simply push the update to their device. This is most relevant to those who either have not seen the update land, do not want to wait for an OTA or simply need a backup file in case of any mishaps one might encounter in the life of ROM swapping. The last RUU noted from HTC for the One M7 came in the form of a Sprint RUU which was made available early last month. Now, following on from this week’s T-Mobile One M7 roll out, HTC have gone and made available the RUU for the T-Mobile variant.
So if you are a One M7 on T-Mobile owner and want a copy of the update or simply want to push it yourself then you can by clicking the source link below. Of course, you should be warned this is a massive file coming in at 1.5GB. It is also worth pointing out, that similar to custom installations, you do have to be a bit careful when installing these RUU files and so you would be wise to read and follow the detailed instructions listed on the source link below. That said, the RUU is now available. Hit the source link below.
