Virtual reality is all the rage at the moment. Over the last few months there has been a massive surge in activity when it comes to virtual reality. Of course, Google kicked things off with their Cardboard option and this was followed towards the end of the year by Samsung and their highly reported Gear VR unit. Not to mention, that as recently as MWC, HTC also announced their intention to join in the virtual reality movement by releasing their version in the way of the HTC Vive.
Well, another interesting virtual reality announcement came last month and this one was from the other South Korean tech giant, LG. Like their local competitor, Samsung, LG was also gearing up to release their own take on virtual reality in the way of their own headset. However, unlike Samsung, LG’s VR headset was going to be far more affordable. This was largely due to the headset being far more basic in terms of design. In fact, the LG headset is pretty much based on Google’s Cardboard, although, the unit is made of plastic rather than cardboard.
Well, LG have announced today that anyone buying the LG G3 in the U.S. will receive a free LG G3 VR headset. This is of course, a while stock lasts type of deal. That said, there were no specific details given in terms of quantity limitations or otherwise. The press release simply states that any LG G3 purchased in the U.S. from participating stores will be eligible for a free VR headset. Not to mention, the headsets will also be eligible for free gaming content which can be claimed via a QR code which will come with the headset. If you are thinking about picking up an LG G3 and grabbing your free headset then you can read the details of the deal by clicking the source link below. If you are already too focused on the recently reported scheduled LG G4 launch event that is happening next month, then unfortunately you will have to wait until April 28th to find out if you will be getting the free VR headset too.
