Moto E Interchangeable Bands and Grip Shells Launch in India

A little under a month ago, before Mobile World Congress, Motorola announced the Moto E. They announced it in a rather unique way, but that’s not the story here. The Moto E is a pretty cheap, actually it’s dirt cheap, smartphone that has 4G LTE connectivity. Here in the US, the 3G model is going for $119 off contract and unlocked, with the 4G LTE model going for $149.99. Over in India, the Moto E 3G is going for Rs. 6,999, which converts to about $112. So it’s even cheaper in India than in the US.

Today, Motorola launched the interchangeable bands and grip shells – which came with our review unit – on FlipKart. The three color bands are going for Rs. 999 or about $16, with the shells going for about Rs 899 or $14. The grip shells are available in Yellow, Charcoal, Turquoise, Blue, and Raspberry. While the interchangeable bands are available in Raspberry, Turquoise, Purple or Red, Blue, Yellow.

Currently, FlipKart is selling the Moto G (1st and 2nd generations), Moto E (1st and 2nd generations), along with the Moto X (2nd generation), the Moto Turbo which just recently launched. And finally the Nexus 6. So India has the full portfolio of Motorola smartphones available over there, and Motorola is actually the number one manufacturer in India right now. FlipKart also sells accessories for all of these models, including the Moto 360.

The Moto E 4G LTE was just reviewed this past week, and we were quite pleased with it. Especially when you factor in the price. Motorola is offering a 4.5-inch display that has a resolution of 960×540. There’s also a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor inside which is 64-bit and also has 4G LTE (the model available in India has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 since it’s the 3G model). Motorola is also offering 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot included, and 1GB of RAM. It’s all powered by a 2390mAh battery, which definitely will last you all day. We were able to get two days of battery out of it while we were reviewing it. If you haven’t checked out our review, we highly suggest you do so.
