How Fast Is Oppo's VOOC Flash Charge Technology?

You’ve all probably heard of Oppo, a rather well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Oppo has been around for quite some time now, and this company is known for their flagship N-series smartphones which sport a huge rotating camera sensor up top. This company also pays huge attention to design, and also develop their own Android-based skin, Color OS. That being said, Oppo also uses an interesting charging technology in most of their devices for quite some time now. This technology is officially called the “Oppo VOOC Flash Charge”, and it can charge your battery from 0 to 75% in just 30 minutes, which is impressive. We’re talking about a 3,000mAh battery here by the way.

After three years of research, the company has decided to release the VOOC Flash Charge technology along with the Oppo Find 7 phablet back in 2014. Oppo has used this technology a number of times since then, and VOOC was one of the main selling points for Oppo devices recently. Battery life is becoming a huge issue in today’s smartphones, so a quick charge is kind of a “must have” feature for many people. As previously mentioned, Oppo’s VOOC Flash Charge can bring your battery from 0 to 75% in just 30 minutes, well, it gets even better. In case your phone’s battery died, and you need to make a longer phone call, all you have to do is charge it for 5 minutes and you’ll be able to talk for about 2 hours. This was tested on Oppo’s current flagship, the N3.

The Oppo Flash Charge utilizes the standard 5 volt charging voltage, but it increases the current to 5 amps, which increases the charging speed up 4 times compared to the regular charger (1A current). Oppo smartphones which ship with VOOC Flash Charge technology also come with an 8 pin battery, 7 pin port and a special charger. The company has also built in what they call an “Intelligent Current Control Program” in order to prevent the phone from heating up when charging. As part of that, Oppo is using a 5-level safety mechanism in order to prevent any and every problem while charging.

The VOOC Flash Charge is an interesting technology, and can certainly come in handy. There are some images in a gallery down below which will show you the 8 pin battery, 7 pin port and some additional stuff.
