Samsung has announced two new flagships at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this month, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The company took a somewhat different approach with these two devices, both of them sport a unibody metal design, which is a first for this Korean smartphone manufacturer. You don’t get a removable battery, nor a microSD card expansion though, so keep that in mind. The Galaxy S6 is more of a regular-shapped smartphone, while a Galaxy S6 Edge sports curves on both the left and right sides of its display, which makes it look odd, but kind of sleek and interesting.
That being said, these two handsets are already available for pre-order in certain parts of the world, and both of them just got certified in China as well. The Samsung SM-G9208 and SM-G9209 handsets got certified in China. These are the dual SIM variants of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, in case you didn’t figure that out. According to the available information, both of these handsets come with support for more or less all carriers in China and Taiwan. GSM / WCDMA / TD-SCDMA / CDMA1X / CDMA2000 / TD_LTE / LTE FDD networks are all supported by the two certified smartphones, which are great news for users in Asia.
Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge feature a 5.1-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of non-expandable internal storage, depending on which variant you purchase. Samsung proprietary 14nm Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor is powering both of these devices, and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop comes pre-installed here, with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of Google’s operating system. 16-megapixel OIS camera is located on the back of these devices, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front (wide-angle lens). Both devices are made out of metal with glass panels on both their front and back sides. The Galaxy S6 measures 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8mm and weighs 138 grams, while the Galaxy S6 Edge measures 142.1 x 70.1 x 7mm and weighs 132 grams. It seems like both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be available in China really soon, stay tuned.
