If you use both Android and iOS smartphones and wanted to know how both the Android Wear smartwatches and the upcoming Apple watch compare so you can move towards making an informed decision, or were just generally curious about the dimensions of the device, an individual mocked up some 3D printed models of both the 38mm and the 42mm Apple Watches to see how they stacked up size wise to the ASUS Zen Watch, which appears to be the Android Wear smartwatch of choice for one Twitter user @nchan.
Even just glancing at the image it’s easy to tell how much bigger the Zen Watch is compared to the Apple Watch in both sizes. While the Apple Watch is definitely on the smaller side of things compared to other smartwatch offerings running Android Wear, in direct regards to the ASUS Zen Watch it’s worth noting that there are some extremely large bezels at play which ultimately makes the case and the screen of the Zen Watch seem a little bigger. Working with a smartwatch that carries a watchface display the size of something like the Moto 360, which measures in at 46 x 46 x 11.5mm compared to the 51 x 39.9 x 7.9 ~ 9.4 mm of the Zen Watch, can already make interactions feel like they’re a tight squeeze, so it’ll be interesting to see how interactions feel for most users on the Apple Watch when it launches.
What might interest more users than the size though is how the Apple Watch actually performs compared to Android Wear devices, and with the time in between releases we’d expect things to feel pretty snappy given Apple has had more time to tweak and optimize the experience before launch.
